TRAINING COURSE RESUMÉ
(Introduction)
The objective of this course is to give the candidate an introduction to the Advanced Product Quality Process.
The course kicks off with the purpose of its existence, its relationship to QS9000 and its basic format and sequence being the 5 phases of APQP. The requirements and inter relationships of the 5 phases are explained.

Emphasis here is placed on immediate planning & scheduling and continuous monitoring & control with constant focus on the Start of Production date.
The second phase, Product Design and Development is explained with much detail on the DFMEA - Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis.
Much emphasis is placed on the third phase, the Process Design and Development especially to the Pre-Launch Control Plan. Pre production containment is explained and its importance emphasised .
In the fourth phase, the Product and Process Validation, the conditions which dictate PPAP submission and its variants, submission status and approval are explained. The requirements of PPAP are covered in some detail. The Process Flow Diagram/Chart, FMEA and Production Control Plan are covered using a short practical example. An explanation on how to go about the Process Trial Run and Capability Study is also given.
The timing and method of carrying out a Run @ Rate is explained using an example demonstration.
The importance of the fifth phase, Feedback, Assessment and Corrective Action, and how it applies from the very beginning of APQP, is emphasised. A technique, the PDSA cycle is introduced.
This course is well laced with actual experience. On completing this course the candidate will be familiar with Advanced Product Quality Planning. From here on the candidate should be able to apply the newly acquired knowledge to practical use in the real environment. |
