P.P.A.P. - Production Part Approval Process
TRAINING COURSE RESUMÉ
The objective of this course to introduce the PPAP requirements and instil confidence in the candidate to go about the PPAP in an informed, disciplined and confident manner. Although this course is primarily theoretical, there is however much practical participation when covering Process Flow Diagram/Chart, PFMEA and Control Plan.
The candidate will learn the position of PPAP within the Supplier Quality Improvement Process. The QS9000 PPAP (4th edition) and IMDS requirements are explained and enthused with much practical experience. The conditions under which PPAP is required and not required are explained.
Much emphasis is placed on Process Flow Mapping, PFMEA and Process Control with much practical participation. The QS9000 3rd edition FMEA is followed.
Having learnt how to create all the PPAP requirements the candidate is explained Retention / Submission Requirements, Submission Levels (with intermediate steps) and finally the approval levels.
On completing this course the candidate should have a clear understanding and appreciation of PPAP, and will be able to put this knowledge to practical use, either as a supplier to a customer or, supervising their suppliers. A PPAP progress Tracking tool is introduced which can be used for status reporting both for customer and suppliers.
An Excel based PPAP Tracking system is provided. This tool includes a summary sheet (showing all parts in the PPAP) and for each, it provides a page detailing all PPAP requirements and, red, amber, green status of each requirement, actions/comments, due and actual dates. At a glance, the summary sheet shows the projects overall status. Need dates, currents dates and actual dates are all automatically compared and show performance indicators. |
