TRAINING COURSE RESUMÉ
The objective of this course is to give the candidate a basic introduction to the Supplier Quality Improvement Process.
The course kicks off with a light introduction of the subject describing the purpose of its existence, its relationship to ISO/TS16949 / QS9000 and its basic format and sequence. This eases the candidate into the detail of the subject starting off with Supplier Search, Assessment and Selection. A great emphasis is placed on supplier education at this early stage so as to reduce avoidable problems later on.
The 5 phases of Advanced Product Quality Planning and their inter relationship and relationship with Production Part Approval Process is covered in some detail. Emphasis here is placed on immediate planning & scheduling and continuous monitoring & control with constant focus on the Start of Production date. This includes Pre-Production Meetings and Prototype Sample.
Because of its importance, the Production Part Approval Process enjoys most of the course time and is covered separately to APQP. Here, the requirements are covered in detail, so are the conditions which dictate PPAP submission and its variants, submission status and approval. Details of Process Flow Diagram/Chart, FMEA and Control Plan are covered using a short practical example.
The timing and method adopted to carry out a Run @ Rate is explained with a demonstration of a past example.
Pre production containment is explained and its importance emphasised .
Some techniques of Continuous Improvement are explained.
Examples of Performance Monitoring and the use of data for proactive planning is demonstrated. Connected to these explanations is Problem Resolution Management.
Problems, and their various severities are well covered with techniques on Investigation,
Monitoring, Control and the customer directed 100% Inspection as a filter medium.
A special section is appended to this course to cover the part to be played by the Customer as well as again emphasising the customer's expectations of the supplier.
Finally a short session covers communication, not the generally well covered administration but the rare theory of how to transmit and receive communication taking into account the worldly filter criteria. At the end of the course there is a short course and lecturer assessment and certificates presentation.
This course is well laced with actual experience. On completing this course the candidate will be familiar with the Supplier Quality Improvement Process and have an appreciation of the critical, important and compromisable areas. From here on the candidate should be able to apply the newly acquired knowledge to practical use in the real environment and build his knowledge base beyond this course. |
